Mel Anderson is a visual artist, designer, potter, photographer, illustrator, and educator. Mel has a strong focus on process as a framework to engage and explore local communities and the individual experiences of people and place. Her arts practice is both introspective and deeply connected to community.
Living on a small island in the mighty Hawkesbury River in Sydney, she uses local materials to tell local stories, woven from the warp and weft of people and place. Dividing her time between teaching and creating, Mel runs workshops and programs using creativity as a tool for self-reflection, introspection and (self-) discovery.
Her current body of work is an extension of her photography into cyanotype printmaking and ceramic pieces and she is also working on a wide ranging ceramic installation project.
So excited to be starting new work in the studio!
